Jon Hunsbusher is most often seen as a Systems Analyst in the IT Department at Twin Disc, but most of us were unaware that he moonlights as a songwriter and musician in the musical duo “Huns and Dr. Beeker.”
A unique band was formed between Jon and Eric Erickson, known as Dr. Beeker, in their younger years when thy met musically, each playing guitars and singing inventive vocal harmonies, and their fates were sealed when they married and became brothers-in-law.
Jon has played in a variety of musical configurations, from rock bands to solo acoustic, and often finds lyric inspirations from his wife Connie, and their two daughters, Caitlin and Hannah.
Both Jon and Eric are proficient on a keyboard, guitar and vocals, which creates some very interesting musical sounds.
Having been directed to their website www.HunsAndDrBeeker.com it was soon evident to see that this duo act seems to have created and fostered the musical genre that has come to be known as Americana. A tour of their website gives on an intro to their pop folk music reminiscent of the 70’s.
After listening to samples of their new CD which was just released, titled The Middle of Somewhere, it’s evident that the duo has strong instrumental skills complementing their singing, and their lyrics reveal a great sense of humor which has earned the respect of their family, peers and fellow musicians. Their colorful lyrics often impress other musicians to be creators rather than consumers of the magic known as music.
Each of the songs on this new CD represents a time along this journey in the middle of a life, giving the listener a look into the parks, pleasures, losses and loves of their personal lives.
Listed on the website are the upcoming club venues, as well as press coverage and photos.
My guess is that Jon could be persuaded to sell you an autographed copy of his CD, The Middle of Somewhere and that you could coax him into telling you why his partner uses the name Dr. Beeker!
